ABOUT TEENS TO TEACH

Teens to Teach connects high school kids with elementary and middle school students in an effort to build relationships and teach students activities, sports, school subjects, and hobbies while giving high school students an opportunity to educate the next generation, earn money, and gain job experience.

Elementary and middle school students or their parents request activities and are matched with a high school tutor. Tutors fill out a form choosing which activities they are interested in teaching. After the match, the tutor and the student, or their parents, agree on the time of their lesson and a payment method (all tutors will be paid $20 per hour). After the first and third lesson, the tutor and student will receive a brief survey to determine if they want to continue with the same tutor or be rematched.

Jake Herman, the founder of Teens to Teach, is a Bernard Zell alumni and current Walter Payton College Prep student. Jake realizes the importance of obtaining a mentor at a young age and giving back to elementary students as a high schooler.

COVID-19 UPDATE

With most camps canceled, kids are looking for ways to work on their favorite activities. Teens to Teach offers a unique way for kids to improve at their favorite hobbies while having social interaction.

High schoolers are struggling to find jobs as job opportunities have decreased due to Covid-19. Teens to Teach offers an opportunity to gain job experience and place tutoring on your college applications, which continue to value extracurriculars more and more.

Due to Covid-19, Teens to Teach will be offering social distance or zoom lessons. Whatever option you choose is up to the student and tutor.
